Holy Ghost Catholic Primary School

Holy Ghost Welcome

A warm welcome to Holy Ghost

We extend a very warm welcome to Holy Ghost Catholic Primary School, where everyone is invited to deepen their understanding of how to follow Christ, and to give witness to his teachings.

Situated in Balham, South London, we are a Catholic school with wonderful pupils, living out our Mission Statement on a daily basis, showing courtesy, respect and care for one another while showing real enthusiasm for learning. They bring laughter, love and joy with integrity and kindness in all they do. I am extremely proud of everything they achieve.

We are mindful of the dignity of every person, irrespective of their background; their strengths, or their needs, and we teach the children the importance of compassion and forgiveness.

We seek to forge strong links with our parents, confident that the children benefit most when honest and trusting relationships exist between us.

Through creative teaching approaches, and a broad curriculum, we develop critical thinking across the range of subject areas, challenging children to excellence, whilst at the same time honing positive attitudes and behaviours.

In addition to the core subjects, Religious Education, Literacy, Numeracy and Science, we pride ourselves on the school’s specialist PE and musical provision; and the teaching of French.

Building on children’s innate capabilities, we ensure full participation in all aspects of learning, irrespective of capability, and this is nowhere more evident than in the school’s provision for sport. All children, when they enter key stage two, represent the school across a range of sports; and participate competitively at borough and national levels.

The children here are the source of great pride to us. The elections for pupil leaders, including sports’ leaders, and school council, as well as the successful buddy system, and pupil chaplaincy team, all serve to provide opportunities for children to exercise their personal, social and team-building skills – all the while ensuring that the voice of the children remains prominent in the decisions that are taken about school developments and improvements.

Our website will give you an insight and understanding of Holy Ghost and we would be delighted to welcome you to visit and see our happy school community.
